Today I looked like this.

It snowed quite a bit.
But it was that kind of
Continuous snow
Throughout the entire day
So that whenever you looked out the window
It was still going,
Pretty-ing
All the barren
‘tree arms’.
I learned today
That ‘tree arms’
Are what I used to call
Tree branches.
My mom decided yesterday
That we’d find all our old
Home movies
And watch them all,
Re-labeling
And re-organizing
So that we can transfer them
From VHS tapes
To DVDs.
This saddens me
A whole lot,
Because I’ve always loved
VHS tapes,
I grew up using them
Like every other kid my age,
And I feel like transferring them
To DVDs is somehow erasing
A part of my childhood
When I know it’s really not,
It just feels that way.
So we have a portable TV
Given to us by my grandma’s
Ex-boyfriend who was a clown,
Hooked up in our kitchen.
And it’s really comforting
To hear my mom’s soothing voice
From ten years prior
echoing in sync
with her laughter now while
playing back tapes
of her kids ‘being silly’
and carefree and just
being children.

So I had been
Out of the loop
For far too long
And decided to watch the
Back to the Future trilogy
Today
And really
Really
Liked it.
I cleaned my room as well
And played Simpson’s Clue
With my brother and cousin
And played with my cat
Who’s really worrying me lately.
Tomorrow I’m going to
Do my religion midterm project
And maybe study for spanish
And review for history
(Although I doubt I will),
And I’ll finally sketch out
The second half of the foreground
For my painting
And hopefully start working on that
By the end of the night.

I’m so excited
For the inauguration
I could pee everywhere.
I was thinking Tuesday would be
A regular school day,
And that I’d be in ceramics when
The ceremony would start
So I might’ve had a chance to actually watch it
But then I remembered that Tuesday
Is our E and F midterm,
So I’ll most likely miss
The beginning of the inauguration.
I read the letter
Obama wrote to his daughters
Today.
To put it simply, it was beautiful.
This is going to sound weird to say,
But I’m looking forward to finally
Being proud of my country again.
Yep.
Well,
I’ve got myself a glass of apple juice
And some warm socks on my feet
And a sleepy mind,
So I’m probably going
To go to bed in a bit.
