NYC

The shimmer of Time Square. Quite literally, actually.
I went to New York with the whole family last month, and here are a few of my favorite sights:

Ants.

Our insane tour guide. He had the most wavering, eccentric, and LOUD voice I've ever heard. He loved to use his hands, and showed us just about everything you need to see in New York City. GOD BLESS HIM!

This small child joined me in standing with a crowd of people around Rockefeller Plaza. She was just so adorable, I couldn't restrain myself. Way cute hair, no?

And last but not least..

Need I say more?

I wish I was in kindergarten.

Today we visited our Little Buddies during Social Studies period. This is the first time we've seen them since before break, so they were of the most exuberance that we arrived JUST for them. When Mr. B. stuck his head in the kindergarten doorway, all of the kids squealed with joy.
"BIGGGGGG BUDDIESSSSS!"
One boy actually cried, he was so excited. I guess they live for this sort of thing.
We had to help them write a sentence on how they're going to stay safe this year. Amber and I 'share' Juliette, so we both helped her spell various words (actually all of it) that she couldn't spell. She's mentioned to me before that she enjoys coloring, so when we first arrived in the classroom, she pointed to a messy marker drawing of a Christmas tree in front of her, saying she made this for the both of us. After we oohed and ahhed and gave her our thanks, we helped her spell and watched her draw a picture of herself wearing a sparkly helmet, riding her brand new bicycle.
I looked at the drawing she made for us, and saw that she had hand-written something on the back. It went a little like this:

I love You U Yo-Yo Ye anD MRS. M2 OSKal You to

I asked her to read it for us, and as I watched her blush madly, I heard her utter, "MRS. MOSKAL WROTE IT." And I figured she was embarrassed she wrote she loved us on it. That, or she couldn't remember what she wrote. So I spent the rest of the period trying to decipher what she meant by these scrambled words. I mean, all the S's were backwards, and she wrote 'MRS. M2 OSKal' vertically, so another 5 year old's interpretation of this would've been helpful, but all were 'occupied'. There's also four oval shaped hearts on it, the kind like I used to make when I was her age, all rounded and misshapen. Then, drawn horizontally, as if it were lying down, is a very tall girl with rectangle arms and long blonde hair that curls at the ends. I asked Juliette who it was, and she said it was me. I laughed lightheartedly, and said thank-you once more as our class left their room.

I really wish I was in kindergarten. Everything semmed to be so laid-back and simple. Back then, the biggest worry any of us could have was the fear of peeing your pants or losing in an intense game of tic-tac-toe. This, or having the smelly kid who eats glue and his boogers at the same time have a crush on you. That was the WORST, because boys had cooties. (Even though we all had crushes on Matt O'Neil. ;] )
The most distinct memories I have from being in kindergarten are so vivid, it's tripping. (?!) I mean, I remember Alice Kim making me a beaded dragon keychain at reccess one day that I kept on my backpack for the next 5 years. I remember Daniel Lynch falling asleep on the mat next to me during nap time, and everyone giggled infectiously as the troublemakers tried puting crayons in his ears while he snored. I remember Marissa, the hyper compulsive maniac who I saw in karate class weeks after we met. I remember Aubree, the girl who had the hair I always wanted, winning the Nicest Person of the Month Award three months in a row.
Above all of these things, what I remember most was this boy named Nick, whose last name escapes me, who had a major crush on me. We were required to have a Bathroom Buddy whenever we had to go to the bathroom, so when one person had to use the potty, the teacher had to find another to walk with them.
One particular day though, I drank all of the supersize apple juicebox I had with my snack, so I had to pee extremely bad. I asked Mrs. Murphy to go to the bathroom, and Nick, who I never really paid attention to, was my bathroom buddy. As we walked down the hall, passing Mrs. Pool's classroom, Nick turned to me, with his blue bathroom pass in hand and said,
"I had a dream about you last night."
I especially remember staring at him funny, as I moved a little farther away from him and asked, "What did you say?"
"We got married. We lived happily ever after. It was the bestest dream I've ever had."
I remember turning red, as he tried to hold my hand and I squirmed away. Then, the punchline:
"Bestest dream ever? Nick! That's no dream, that's a nightmare."

Even THEN i knew I was a monster. XD

Leg Length?

I got my physical two days ago. What joy. This time though, it went about a little differently. My mom had mentioned my ankle was still swollen from when I sprained it this past spring, so Dr. Sickle propped me up on the "examining table" for a little look see. As I laid down, she asked me if my back was as flat as I could get it. After I replied yes to this, she literally bursted out of amazement.
"Oooh! Oh, My! Oh wow, I can't believe this..." Evidently, I became rather antsy and asked what all the hubub was about. She proceded to tell me that I have the vastest leg length difference she has ever seen in any patient of hers. At first, I felt special. Until these words registered in my brain. Vast? Difference? And she's referring to my leg length?
"You mean my legs don't match up?" I asked.
"Precisely. There's about a 2 inch difference between them! I mean, WOW."
She went on to explain that my right foot is even larger than my left, and she hopes I measure my shoes by my right foot when I purchase new sneaks. Puh-lease, like I had any clue my feet were sized differently. Jeesh. She even told me my toe lengths were different. As if this brightened my day. Why doesn't she just slap a sticker on my forehead labeled ABNORMAL? And after all this, she didn't even tell me what was up with my still screwed up ankle.
The doc's scheduling an appointment for me at the hospital ASAP. I'm obviously an indelitcate creature to be sent to the hospital for unequal leg lengths.

P.S. She also made me aware that I'm not supposed to give out any personal information over the Interweb. Don't tell her she's in here.

Bloody Noses.

Yesterday morning, I had a bloody nose. And this morning, I had another. Why is it, that when it turns briskly cold outdoors, I always wake up with my nose bleeding? This is how it's always been. I'm just that girl everyone will look back upon 20 years from now saying, "Oh yeah, I remember her. She's the one with the nose bleeding problem." Isn't that how everyone wants to be recollected as?

The blood I'm so used to seeing drip into my bathroom sink is so familiar, I'm not even scared of it anymore. Back when I actually thought I was a hemophiliac, I'd cry for the hours my nose bled. Like back in the third grade. The day I had been anticipating for weeks in counting, the day the 3rd grade class would take the greatest field trip EVER --- the day I was carried off the bus in the arms of Mrs. Young, my jumper becoming blood stained, my face becoming tear stained. I sat outside the prinicpal's office the whole day sniffling into a bloody tissue. I specifically remember a 4th grade Amanda Shea in my face, asking what had happened. Now the experience comes back to haunt me, as my fellow soon-to-be graduates ask me if I remember that wicked awesome seal performance from when we went on that field trip back in third grade. Um, no?

And when people ask me if I've ever had this "problem" checked out, you know, by a professional nose expert. When I mention to someone that I've had my nose cauterized 4 times, their face usually turns sour at the thought of the process. What's especially humorous is when they dont know what cauterization means, and I explain to them that its like shoving a burning hot Q-tip up your nose to form a scab, which is exactly how it was first described to me. The look I get is one of awe and confusion. "OMG, I DIDN'T KNOW YOU GOT A NOSE JOB!"

Uh-huh, they listen well.

The Reason(s)

Hello there. I am a jerrybuilt adolescent who feels the need write whatever topics or occasions come to mind. I was inspired by a girl friend (lyke, BFFLZ) to start this, seeing she keeps her own blog and is ultimately talented in her writing skills. I used to write down the events of my days in a journal, but I lost interest when describing my shithole vacation in New Jersey this past summer. Now I've turned to blogging because, why not share my opinions with those curious enough to read it? I'm not going to bore you with miniscule details like the the exact amount of dirt beneath my fingernails because, quite frankly, no one needs to know this. But I will talk about random topics such as velcro or ferris wheels (possibly). All in all, this is just a place for me to get back into my writing scheme and update my fellow readers on what's intruding my head at the current moments in which I decide to write. Hope you enjoy my attempts at uplifting the bored folk and keeping contentment. :]
