12/05/09

Hi. It's been awhile! I feel like I've been swamped busy, but I really haven't been. Now that the play's done and over with I've got a lot more time after school to be lazy and sleep, which isn't necessarily a good thing but. What can ya do. Speaking of the play, it went well! I attended the Saturday night show and the Sunday matinee and I'd say both ran smoothly. I particularly remember Brianna's scream at the Sunday show being above par. So kudos to you, Bri. I wasn't at the opening Friday show since I saw Devendra Banhart play at the Berklee Performance Center in Boston. It was a beautiful show, to say the least. The Center was awesome itself, and the atmosphere was awfully laid back and relaxed. I thought it so sweet that Devendra let each of his band members from The Grogs showcase a little something each of them had written themselves. Devendra's a funny guy. Alex, Alex, Kelly, Kevin, Kara, Mia and I all went out to pizza afterward. My slice was rather spicy. Oh, and totally teared up during I Remember, not gonna lie.

So aside from that, I haven't been doing much else, socially wise at least. I've been sitting in front of my computer a lot and starting projects that I know will take ages to finish. I'm still excited for them though. I don't want to reveal much yet, but the first I'm doing is a type of collage using only fortunes from fortune cookies, another involves receipts from food and clothing purchases, and another consists of cutting and pasting macbook photos like these:

Fun it shall be. Also, it's snowing outside right now for the first time since that one flukey day in October. I can't wait to spend break days laying in snow heaps and drinking hot chocolate while I wait for the feeling in my toes to come back. Winter rules.

So yesterday I didn't have school because it was an inservice day and I was supposed to hang out with Chris Bunce, Tyler, and Mia but plans got muddled so instead I sat in my pajamas and talked to Kara on the phone the entire day, making wishlists for Christmas online. I've never done that before, but Kara convinced me to and it was actually fun and my mom is actually ordering me my list! We never do much for Christmas anymore, so it was pretty surprising to me that she said she'd be willing to buy me all these thangz. Here's what I asked for, if you're interested. The first set is all from that online store, ModCloth. Two pairs of leggings, a ring, a watch, and a pair o' suede flats. And the bag is from urbanoutfitters. I need myself a solid bag.

(SUCH a funny picture ^
makes me laugh every time)

Well, that's enough of my selfish desires. I didn't ask for anything else, no books, no nothing. There's one or two CDs I'd like to have in hand but I doubt they're in fye already, if at all, so. That's that!

EDIT - 12/06/09 7:49 PM
I was going to tell you yesterday what my line up for the night was, but I might as well just tell you about my night now that the day's already passed. I went to mass for four and for the first time we had a contemporary band play instead of having all the old catholic ladies bellow to us in incomprehensible speech from the balcony above. And we sat up front too, so it was probably the first time in over a year that I heard every word the priest said. I was kind of interested though, I must admit. He was talking about Da Vinci's painting methods..

Anyway. After mass we headed on over to the Holy Cross gym for a pasta dinner for Saint Michael's. So weird, being there again and having some woman I don't know tell me that I'm in Saint Michael's and not Holy Cross. I sat with my parents and their friends and chatted it up with Mrs. Rivers who is so in love with me it's ridiculous. And Brianna invited me to see Mrs. Bedore with her and her sister and her sister's friend and we did, it was wondrous. I had a good time.

After thaaat we ended up picking up Mia and going to a game for Springfield's one and only, brand spankin' new basketball team, The Armor, or The Armors, or Armor, or something like that. We lost really, really bad, and it was pretty humiliating since our city was born to the founding of basketball as a sport, so.. Embarrassing? Yes, very. But Mia and I enjoyed ourselves all the same. There was this lively black family that filled the row behind us and the grandmother of the family was pretty vocal and sassy. She yelled, "OKAY, OKAY. OKAY, RUN IT. RUN IT, OKAY. OKAY," just about the entire night. My favorite part about her was when our team did something wrong (which happened a number of times) she'd yell, "AWWWW SHEEEEITTTTT!" in a very high pitched tone. And when she started dancing during half time she tapped Mia and I on the shoulder, so we got up and danced with her. Gotta love it.

Oh, and our team mascot is the biggest joke. So that was my night in a nutshell.
Now quick! Here's some funny photos Mia and Derek made for me a few nights ago!

and one I made! :

The original photos that these were drawn over were taken on this past New Year's Eve. Sean and I were a little hyper and decided to take photos of ourselves mid-air.. Speaking of Sean, today he and I hung out in his room (pictured) and pretended to beat each other up. I would punch and slap and bite the air, and he would throw himself onto the bed or the floor as if what I was doing was actually happening to him. He's really good at it, he could totally be a stunt double. We bond in the weirdest of ways.

Today's my dad's birthday, he turned 52 so it was a party all day. My grandma and my uncle came over (they're the party) and we all hung out and had an early dinner and dessert so my dad could go to the radio station which is where he is right now. Ryan made scallops as an appetizer and ooohhhh maaa gawwwt they were sooooo good. He really should become a chef, he makes da bestest fewd. We all watched home videos after we'd finished at the table and that was amusing, to say the least. I was the weirdest little kid. Not to say that this hasn't changed..

Man, I just do not want to go to school tomorrow. I should probably finish this up, I still have a history paper to write and a chemistry worksheet to do.

The first two photos are of Annabu. She's one of my favorite girls from lookbook and yes, I like lookbook, as pretentious as it may be.

EDIT - 8:59pm
I don't recall ever having been more inspired by a video than I was while watching this, it is stunning. Mind-blowing:

11/08/09

I sang during church this morning, it was weird!
Here's everything I'm going to do today:

- Memorize all of the polyatomic ions, their stock names, and classic names
- Finish my still life for art that Sara thinks I've already finished but have not
- Determine who I'll interview for my hero project in english
- Rake many, many leaves
- Finish that painting I started over the summer
- Read ahead in The Last Lecture just 'cause
- Finish reading And Then There Were None
- Hang out with Sean

I can't stop playing this, Becky's too cute:

I had the chance to see Chris Garneau in Boston friday but didn't. I'm seeing Devendra Banhart in Boston in like two weeks though. And I watched The Reader and Garden State last night.

Hi. I think this is the greatest photo ever. The one above, the greatest. Ever. Above, greatest. Ever. I've been so fascinated by tattoos lately. I have an abundance of photos saved, so I figured I might as well rid of them and conserve space by posting them here. I just think they're interesting:

Some people are so creative. Some of these are so cool I considered copying them. Some of these are temporary tattoos. Okay only one, and it's the last one. Still awesome. That's all!

Sunday, 11 October 2009

Hey, it's my birthday.

Well, it still is if I post this before midnight, that is. Anyway, hello. This has been quite the long week for me, I must say. Wednesday night Mia's brother Alex picked up Sam and I and brought us to the bowling alley to surprise Mia for her birthday. Jimmy Mazz and Kim were there too, and we all went to Primavera afterward to celebrate. I gave Mia a pogo stick, not just from me but from all her peelz.

Last night Kara, Brianna, Mia and I all went out to 99 as a sort of joint-birthday party for Mia again and for myself. We ate some foodz, and went to the dollar store, and gamestop, and stop and shop, and iparty.. So much fun, I love that plaza. Mia bought me this snazzy jerkin' sweater at the dollar store, it has a moon and a falcon on it. We all went to my house afterward and chatted over ice cream cake and presents at my kitchen table, my dad was being so goofy.

And today I went to church for the first time in maybe a month, visited my abuelito who turns 94 tomorrow, and went out to dinner with my entire family including my grandma and Frank. We went to Primavera, I couldn't resist. And it made my dad happy, he's friends with the owners, they sponsor the radio station or something. We went back to my house for cake once more and laughed a lot over tea and cookies. My mom got me this really pretty gold bracelet with a glass blowed heart charm on it, so cute. And my grandma got me this awesome little crystal piece of a cake or cupcake or somethingerother. I can't really tell what it is, but it has little rubies all over it. Also, so cute. And I got maybe 120 dollars in total, counting cards from Canadian family and such.

I forgot to mention that Mia bought me a grey thermal shirt with buttons on it and a purple/teal/red/several other colors button up sweater from savers. Brianna made me this wicked awesome green/yellow/purple/teal bracelet which I am never taking off, ever. And Kara bought me a very multi-colored pull-over and a second sweater that looks a lot like a winter hat I bought at that liquidation sale downtown, once. Both from savers. I LOVE YOU GUYS, SEEING AS HOW I KNOW YOU'RE ALL READING THIS SINCE ALL WE TALKED ABOUT AT DINNER WAS HOW WE READ EACH OTHER'S BLOGS. Geeks. (And I wish Sam could have made it :[ )

Alright! Enough about that, I wanted to show you guys the Wild Thing's project Booooooom's been having for the past few days (weeks?) on their site. It's probably one of the best internet projects I've ever come across, I can't get enough. They basically asked whoever wanted to participate to make a fort however they pleased, to mail in a photo of said fort, and that a winner will be chosen for the best fort. Here are a few of my favorite photos:

Oh man. I'm far too sleepy to go on. And it seems it's already the 12th. Let the unbirthdays begin. Alrightie, I'm off to dreamland, hopefully not of THIS MAN ( thisman.org ), but of less disturbing things. Like ribbons and tropical fish.

(continuation - 10:44 AM)
Well I can't say that any of my dreams last night were realistic, just plain strange. I don't want to talk about it. Um, if you want to follow the Wild Thing's project or just check out any of the other photos Booooooom's posted so far you can click heeere (and skim through the similar posts as well):

(continuation - 11:09 PM)
Haha, I've been wanting to get around to posting this all day! But I was at Mia's for most of the afternoon, which was very fun by the way. We're working on a project for English class where we have to make Igbo tribal masks, and we papier mache'ed (..sp?) each other's faces, it was great. I'm skipping play practice yet again tomorrow to go over her house so we can finish this thing. I think it's going to turn out so stellar, even if our masks look a little creepy so far.

Aren't we beautiful? More tomorrow.

10/03/09

Hi, I just wanted to tell you that I've changed my halloween plans. Kara's mom ordered me a shark costume since their car is beach themed for the trunk or treat we're going to. So I'm psyched about that, the costume is radical to say the least. As for school I had planned on being the mad hatter, but I decided to switch and be pocahontas instead. I mean, I still want to be the mad hatter in the future, but you have to have just the right attire to pull that one off, and to actually be recognized as that character. The blazer I got doesn't really comply to that, and Jack told me he's been searching for the perfect top hat for ages and still hasn't found one. So, I figured pocahontas wouldn't be too difficult since I look like her anyway, and it gives me an excuse to purchase some mocs as well. I was pocahontas once as a kid, I cried because my mom made me wear makeup. I was just searching for the photographs, but I haven't found any yet. When I do I'll be sure to post them here. For now I figured I'd post this little girl's photo. How cute is she?

09/21/09

Hi, I didn't go to school today. I made tea and a bagel with strawberry cream cheese (new favorite thing ever) for breakfast, and a grilled cheese with some minestrone soup for lunch. My mom had another job interview today. Money's tight lately. I kind of wish I had gone to school, I realized when I awoke that I missed out on pinwheels for peace. From what I've been told it's not a huge deal but I would've liked to have gone out for it, it was real foggy this morning. I plan on biking over there later to check it out.

Did I tell you I tried out for the school play? We're doing And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie, and I'm an understudy for some unidentified part. I'm pleased with being an understudy, I'm not all that good at acting and its a small cast anyhow. But hey Brianna's Mrs. Rogers! This way I'll get to spend more time with her at rehearsals after school every day, since we don't have any classes together this year. I have the book And Then There Were None, I think I'm going to start reading it tonight.

I had so much trouble last night coming up with my myth for DeCoteau's class. I kept going back to fireflies and spiders, but in the end I chose whales. So that's what I'm doing, a myth about whales, and why they have such strange mating calls. Solid idea, I think so. I spent most of my morning youtubing whale calls and googling pictures of beluga whales. I think I'm forming a soft spot for belugas to be quite honest. I can't get over how cute they are.

I saw 500 Days of Summer at the theaters with Kara the other night, and I'll admit it didn't live up to my expectations. It was decent to say the least, but I ended up despising Summer's character, which made it difficult to enjoy the film over all. Just like Peace Like A River.. I didn't particularly care for Reuben, the narrator, and that kind of zoned me out from liking the story in general. But yeah, Summer was fucking annoying and totally ruined Tom, not for life of course since the story had to end on a somewhat uplifting note but, man. She disappointed me. And I really like Zooey Dechanel! I guess you could say she did a good job playing an awful character, enough to make me like her less, even though I know that's not true and that I just wasn't fond of the role she played. Joseph Gordon-Levitt though, boy is he a heartthrob. So my choice of meat. Okay we're stopping there before I make anymore a fool of myself. (One last note, doesn't he look like cheekychen with a little scruff on 'im? I think so.)

I've been so into Portugal. The Man recently, particularly Church Mouth. God that album is good, Shade is definitely my favorite track. And Johnny Gourley's not too bad to look at either. Why am I such a girl? I've also been listening to Ricky Turner's gĕullah non-stop. That was actually the last album played before my ipod broke when I was walking home from school the other day. I really like The Earth, His Banner, and Father's House. I can't stop singing 'em. You can download it here:

http://www.filefactory.com/file/ag9h46d/n/g_ullah_zip

Still don't know what I'm going to do about my ipod.. It refuses to cooperate, and that makes me very sad. I've also taken up Bloc again, I lost them for a while there. I've been listening to the last half of A Weekend In The City particularly since I feel like I don't know it as well as I do the first half, which is a strange feeling since I'm a definite album listener compared to a song listener. Anyway. I'm really looking forward to the new Lightspeed Champion, I saw Devonte comment on a video of his the other day that two new albums are in the works. I've yet to purchase Chris Garneau's El Radio and Portugal.'s Satanic Satanist but I'm getting to it! And! Mia just informed me today of Devendra Banhart's latest album being released on the 27th of October. Also, quite exciting.

Hm.. What else to go on about incessantly.. I started played Ocarina of Time again. I've gotten a lot better, it's such a fantastic game. I find myself listening to Team Teamwork after every time I play and I think it's becoming a bit of a problem. My itunes and internet weren't working this morning and I was just about writhing on the floor without ma Busta Rhymes set to the Gerudo Valley theme. I don't know why, because it's honestly not all that good. Like it's clever and all, but I don't know. THX DEREK PEELZ, even though I know he doesn't read this. I wonder who does read this. It's pretty embarrassing actually. In fact, just about everything I do internet-wise is embarrassing. My myspace, my facebook, my youtube. My youtube especially, jeez. Why am I so self-concious of how I present myself via internet? Because I sure as hell don't care what people think of me in real life. Le sigh. Enough of this.

All photos except the beluga photo are courtesy of booooooom.com so I suggest you check it out, s'probably one of my favorite sites evar. I actually follow them on facebook and blogger, so get to it.
